Barnett's Farm and Oasthouse

The history of Barnett's Wood is not well recorded, although it is believed that its name derives from a 19th Century tenant farmer called Thos Barnett. The farm was likely to have been worked up until the 1940's, at which time the barns were demolished. The farmhouse remained occupied until the1960s when it was finally abandoned to the woods.

A derelict brick kiln can be found towards the northern edge of the woods, which is likely to have been associated in some way to the High Brooms Brickworks; a thriving local industrial enterprise up until the early part of the 20th Century.
