High Weald AONB

We work in the Kent High Weald, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) for its rolling hills, small, irregular fields, abundant woods and hedges, scattered farmsteads and sunken lanes. www.highweald.org

Southborough Circular

This walk can be started in Rusthall, Speldhurst, Southborough or High Brooms, but the route below is described heading clockwise from Tunbridge Wells Common.

The walk starts near the Pantiles. It crosses Major York's Road and heads west over the Common before turning northwest towards Rusthall and Speldhurst. Follow the brown edged TWC Link Route waymarks until you join the Tunbridge Wells Circular at Speldhurst Church.

From there, the green edged TWC High Weald Walk waymarks lead you east through Southborough and on to High Brooms. This part of the walk is described in more detail in sections 7 and 1 of the guide book. At the viaduct, leave the main route and return southwards again following the brown TWC Link Route waymarks. This takes you as far as High Brooms station, and a train or bus back to Royal Tunbridge Wells, or a further 1½ miles (2.5 km) through the built up area on foot.
