| Youth Volunteering Builds Bridges in Cranbrook |
|
The Crane Valley Local Nature Reserve is known for its fantastic wetland habitats. Unfortunately, this also makes it a muddy place to be when the wetter weather comes. Armed with spades, drills, saws and screws, a group of six young people took to the boards to help improve access over a boggy patch by constructing a 3m extension to an already well-used walkway. Saul Fajerman, Education Officer with the Kent High Weald Partnership, said, "Crane Valley is a site that's well-used by young people, so to have such an enthusiastic and hard working group want to improve it for everyone has been brilliant. Hopefully this will be the first of many days like this to come!" The Kent High Weald Partnership runs a full program of volunteering throughout the year, and young people are always especially welcome to join in. Visit our volunteering pages to find out more. Further Information This special youth volunteering event was supported by Cranbrook Parish Council as part of their Awards for All funded 'Pathways to Nature' project. Visitors to a local beauty spot in Cranbrook won't be getting stuck in the mud this winter, thanks to the special efforts of some young volunteers.
