Did you know that if your garden was joined with
millions of other gardens in the country they would make a nature
reserve five times the size of Greater London? Plants and animals
that used to be very common have been disappearing over recent years.
As pressures on our countryside and wild spaces increase, gardens
are becoming more and more important as havens for our wildlife.
The Gardening for Wildlife Award Scheme encourages people to enhance
the wildlife value of their gardens. You don't have to be an expert
or have acres of space to help wildlife. Our judges are looking
for the efforts made to encourage wildlife to your garden. Whether
your garden is large or small, in the town or countryside, by making
small and simple changes you could have a garden for wildlife.
Categories include:
- private gardens
- schools
- community gardens.
