Free Tree Scheme 2009
40,000 trees to give away! - The Free Tree Scheme takes root across Kent
The Kent Free Tree Scheme has grown significantly so that 2009 will be the first year that the scheme is available in all Boroughs and Districts of Kent.
The scheme offers up to 25 native trees or hedge mix to individuals and communities across Kent and the London Borough of Bexley completely free of charge, with the option of buying additional trees or accessories for really big projects. All you have to do is collect them, plant them and care for them as they grow.
The scheme helps to benefit local wildlife and enhance the character of the Kent countryside. By planting 25 trees up to 7 tonnes of CO2 could be absorbed during the trees lifetime. So with 40,000 trees to be given away this year the scheme and its applicants could absorb a staggering total of 280,000 tonnes of CO2.
The scheme is made possible through sponsorship from Network Rail, Kent County Council and the Boroughs and Districts of Kent and the London Borough of Bexley and is co-ordinated and delivered by the Countryside Management Partnerships.
